MARK KNOPFLER GEARING UP FOR U.S. LEG OF WORLD TOUR
Most people know exactly who he is when they hear, “That ain’t workin’ – That’s the way you do it – Money for nothin’ and your chicks for free.” However, Dire Straits fans know him as the one and only Mark Knopfler.
He is currently on a massive world tour in support of his latest solo album, Down The Road Wherever, having kicked it off on April 25, 2019 in Barcelona, Spain.
Knopfler, the lead guitarist and unmistakable voice and songwriter for Dire Straits, may be circling the globe solo, but he comes with a 10-piece band in tow. Most of the band are guys that he’s been working with for more than 20 years.
On stage you’ll see Guy Fletcher (keyboards), Richard Bennett (guitar), Jim Cox (piano), Mike McGoldrick (whistle and flute), John McCusker (fiddle and cittern), Glenn Worf (bass), Danny Cummings (percussion) and Ian Thomas (drums). In addition to the good ol’ boys, Graeme Blevins (saxophone) and Tom Walsh (trumpet) contribute to the spectacle.
Although the legend in his own right is touring in support of his latest album, outlets have reported that you’ll be treated to some Dire Straits classics, as well.
Knopfler is currently wrapping up the European leg of the tour. The U.S. leg kicks off on August 16th at the Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.
